A group of Cybertrucks was recently spotted at the company’s Giga Texas factory in Austin. Drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer caught sight of nine covered Cybertrucks parked in the outbound transportation lot on August 13, suggesting they are ready for deliveries to customers.
The Cybertrucks were all of the dual-motor 300-mile range model and were uniformly white with matching wheels and tires. The only visible difference between them was the VIN numbers printed on stickers on their sides.
According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, customer deliveries of the hotly anticipated Cybertruck are expected to begin in late 2023. The presence of these nine trucks at Giga Texas could indicate some of the very first production examples ready for new owners.
The Cybertrucks were covered with protective sheets, likely to conceal them from public view and prevent damage during transportation. Inside the factory itself, Tegtmeyer also spotted several more Cybertrucks in late stages of assembly, underscoring that production is well underway.
Musk originally unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019 to much fanfare. Its angular, futuristic design initially polarized observers but has since developed a cult following among fans. The vehicle will be Tesla’s first pickup truck model and the company is hoping it will disrupt the lucrative pickup market in the US.
With Musk targeting the start of mass production in mid-2023, the sighting of finished trucks ready for shipping at Giga Texas is a reassuring sign. It demonstrates that Tesla is making steady progress on ramping up Cybertruck assembly as per its timeline. The additional trucks spotted on the factory floor further validate that operations are running smoothly.
Pending any last-minute delays, Cybertruck enthusiasts can expect deliveries to commence in the coming months. With Tesla’s Austin factory humming with truck production, the wait may soon be over for customers who reserved one of the most hotly-anticipated vehicles in recent memory.
