After Twitter, Meta now introduces “Meta Verified”, a paid subscription model!

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced the testing of a new subscription bundle called “Meta Verified” that includes account verification, impersonation protections, access to increased visibility, and support for users. The aim is to make it easier for people, especially creators, to establish a presence on the platform and build their communities. The bundle is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand, and will include a verified badge that authenticates the account with government ID, proactive account protection, access to account support, and increased visibility and reach. The subscription will be available for direct purchase on Instagram or Facebook for USD 11.99 on the web and USD 14.99 on iOS and Android.

This initiative is part of the company’s plan to offer more features to increase visibility and reach through a paid offering. As part of this vision, the meaning of the verified badge is being expanded, which will allow more people to trust the accounts they interact with are authentic. However, there will be no changes to accounts that are already verified based on prior requirements, including authenticity and notability.

To be eligible for Meta Verified, accounts must meet minimum activity requirements and be at least 18 years old. Applicants are then required to submit a government ID that matches the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account they’re applying for. Subscriptions will include proactive monitoring for account impersonation, and there will be continuous monitoring and review of reported violations, as well as swift action against those who try to evade the system.

This new offering provides valuable benefits to up-and-coming creators who are looking to grow their presence and build a community faster. It is an opportunity for those with smaller audiences to see a more noticeable impact to their reach. The bundle is not only limited to creators but is also open to businesses and the wider community in the long run.
