Cupertino, CA – Apple today announced a new affordable Apple Pencil, expanding its lineup of high-performance styluses for iPad. Starting at just $99, the new Apple Pencil delivers many of the key features of the more premium models at a lower price point.
The latest Apple Pencil features pixel-perfect accuracy and extremely low latency, providing a natural and fluid drawing experience. It also supports pressure and tilt sensitivity, allowing users to vary their artistic effects. The stylus has a matte finish and a flattened side that allows it to magnetically attach to the side of compatible iPads for easy storage and pairing.
Unlike the more expensive second-generation model, the new Apple Pencil charges via a USB-C cable instead of wireless charging. However, it is compatible with all of Apple’s latest iPad models that contain a USB-C port, including the iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and the newly announced 10th generation iPad.
“With its simple, lightweight design and incredible performance, the new Apple Pencil makes it easier than ever for anyone to unlock their creative potential on iPad,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
Priced at just $99, the affordable new Apple Pencil provides students, artists, note-takers and other creatives with a high-quality stylus option. Apple is clearly aiming to make its iPad line more appealing to wider range of users with this lower-cost accessory.
The new Apple Pencil will be available for purchase starting in early November. It comes in a single white finish.
