Electric vehicle maker Fisker Inc unveiled its new electric pickup truck, the Alaska, at a special product reveal event on August 3, 2023. The Alaska marks Fisker’s entry into the rapidly growing electric truck segment and is aimed at providing a more affordable option compared to rivals like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T.
The Fisker Alaska is scheduled to start production in early 2025 and will have a starting price of just over $45,000. This positions it as a competitively priced electric pickup compared to gas-powered trucks and cheaper than other EV trucks.
Some key features of the Alaska include an extendable bed that can be configured as 4.5 feet, 7.5 feet or 9.2 feet long to accommodate varying cargo needs. It also comes equipped with a solar roof capable of generating 2,000 watts of power for added range and power supply.
The truck will have a range of approximately 230-340 miles on a single charge, which Fisker stated is ideal for the needs of most truck owners. It can tow up to 7,500 pounds and comes standard with driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
Fisker will offer the Alaska in Base and OceanX trim levels. The Base model focuses on the essentials while the OceanX adds luxury touches like a 16-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel and power tailgate.
Reservations for the Fisker Alaska are now open on the company’s website, with prices starting at $45,099. The company is hoping the Alaska will establish it as a major player in both the broader electric vehicle market and the pickup truck segment specifically.
Along with the Alaska, Fisker also unveiled the Pear affordable EV hatchback and the ultra-luxury Ronin EV supercar at its recent event. The company has raised over $1 billion in funding so far and has ambitious production targets of over 200,000 vehicles per year by 2025 across its lineup. The Alaska pickup truck will play a key role in achieving those goals and expanding Fisker’s customer base.
