A video showcasing the 4-wheel steering abilities of the Cybertruck has just been posted on Twitter. It’s worth mentioning that Rivian was the first company to introduce 4-wheel steering in their trucks, dubbed as the “tank turn” due to the 4 independent motors on each wheel. General Motors soon followed with the “crab walk” feature in their vehicles.
To stay competitive in the electric truck market, Tesla had to include a 4-wheel steering system in the Cybertruck although this addition has probably caused a delay in the Cybertruck’s production timeline.
During the latest earnings call, the company confirmed that the production of the Cybertruck will commence this summer, with volume production slated to begin the following year.
