Tesla has unveiled a mid-life facelift for its popular Model 3 electric sedan. The refreshed Model 3 features numerous upgrades to make it more stylish, comfortable, efficient and safer.
On the outside, Tesla has redesigned the front and rear lights to be slimmer and more prominent. The fog lamps have been removed and the front intakes have been consolidated into one central vent, giving the car a more aggressive, sporty look. New 18- and 19-inch alloy wheel designs are available, including a 19-inch wheel with aero inserts for improved efficiency. Two new paint colors include a deep red and gray.
Inside, Tesla redesigned the minimalist dashboard and upgraded materials for a more premium feel. The new steering wheel has integrated controls and a central horn. There is also a refreshed center console with metal accents. Tesla focused on reducing noise by adding more acoustic glass and sound insulation. This results in a 30% improvement in wind and ambient noise and a 25% reduction in impact sounds from the suspension.
For a smoother ride, Tesla upgraded the suspension with new springs, dampers and bushings. New tires also help isolate road imperfections. Ventilated front seats and a rear screen for climate and entertainment controls are newly available.
On the tech side, Tesla improved Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cell phone integration. The audio system now has 17 speakers for better sound. Efficiency sees an 8% boost thanks to aerodynamic enhancements like a lower drag coefficient. This results in ranges up to 344 miles for rear-wheel drive and 422 miles for dual motor versions.
The updated Tesla Model 3 promises to be even more compelling through significant strides in style, comfort, tech and efficiency. It is unclear when the refreshed Model 3 will officially be available for order in the US, pricing is expected to remain similar to current models, starting around $42,000.
