Tesla Unveils Track Package for Model S Plaid

Supercar Slayer in Family Sedan Disguise

Tesla has recently unveiled a “Track Package” for the Model S Plaid, specifically engineered to augment the vehicle’s performance for track use. Since its initial release, the Model S has demonstrated its ability to compete with supercars in terms of performance, even though it is a family sedan. Tesla is now elevating the Model S to unprecedented heights.

The package comprises upgrades to the car’s braking system and a complete set of Goodyear tires, optimized for track use, accompanied by a new set of Zero G wheels. The Track Package enables speeds exceeding 200 mph and is compatible with 2021 Model S Plaid vehicles and newer models.

The braking system enhancements consist of two six-piston front calipers, two four-piston rear calipers, and carbon ceramic rotors. These upgrades will furnish the Model S Plaid with a more responsive braking system, granting drivers enhanced control over the vehicle while traveling at high velocities.

Initially, Tesla pledged a top speed of 200 mph for the Model S Plaid but ultimately delivered a maximum speed of 163 mph due to brake constraints. Nevertheless, the company introduced a “Track Mode” last year, raising the top speed to 175 mph. Although Tesla offered a carbon ceramic brake upgrade for $20,000, it has not yet installed the new brakes on the Model S Plaid.

It is worth noting that the Model S Plaid has attained a top speed of 216 mph when equipped with upgraded third-party brakes, illustrating the vehicle’s capacity to achieve remarkable speeds with the appropriate components.
